The saying goes that the customer is always right. And, at this year’s DerbyshireLive Business Awards, one business placing a strong emphasis on that sentiment will be celebrated.
At the event, which welcomes business from all sectors, the ‘Customer Service Excellence Award’ will be presented to a business which has put customer service at the heart of its day-to-day operations.
One of 16 awards on offer at the ceremony, it has gained the support of office refurbishment company, Butler + Willow. For over 27 years, the business has delivered fantastic results for its customers offering a range of services, including design, building and office consultation.
James Willow is Butler + Willow’s managing director. He explained why the category appealed to them.
“As a successful business based in the region, we believe it is vital to support and recognise Derby businesses and their successes,” he said.
“We recognise that our customers are crucial to the results we achieve as a business, so we want to reward employers that share the same people-centric values and focus.”
The firm’s sponsorship of this award means it is also responsible for choosing the winner and three finalists. James told of how they’ll be looking for a solid commitment to the customer among a range of other business skills when it makes its judgments.
“This award recognises businesses that demonstrate a true commitment to making customer service a real priority. We will be looking for a company that can demonstrate how their processes deliver excellent customer service,” he said.
“I believe that a great business is built on a great team with a multitude of skills. Therefore, the ability to nurture people and create an environment in which they can become their best and produce exceptional results is crucial.”
“A shared purpose and vision is also key, as they provide clarity, a sense of direction and help drive home the ambition and rewards of working together towards a common goal.”
As well as supporting these awards, Butler + Willow has big plans of its own for the year ahead, as James described.
“Sustainability is high on our agenda, so we’ll be looking to include within our proposals further green options that could provide longer-term benefits which are sometimes overlooked or not fully understood,” he said.
“Our proven track record continues to serve us very well, so naturally we will continue to ensure that Butler + Willow are known for an efficient and agile response and excellent delivery.”
