Derby is home to a variety of businesses employing thousands of people across the city.
As the DerbyshireLive Business Awards gears up to return to the region many of its employers will be hoping that they’ll be walking away with one of the night’s most coveted prizes.
The ‘Employer of the Year’ award is presented to one of the region’s standout employers who offer its staff a number of benefits and can demonstrate a strong investment in its team.
One of 16 awards up for grabs on the night, the ceremony will take place on Wednesday 3 June at Derby College’s Roundhouse venue. Here, those nominated will be joined by category sponsors for a night of celebration.
One of those sponsors who will be in attendance is leading Derby based law firm Smith Partnership. Offering a number of legal services for both individuals and businesses, Smith Partnership have been long-time supporters of the awards and the firm’s head of Business Services Russell Davies was keen to point out why they’ve reaffirmed its support for the awards once again.
“Smith Partnership has been involved with the DerbyshireLive Business Awards for many years as we believe it is important to recognise the outstanding businesses we have in our area. It is important to celebrate the high performance of businesses today and to inspire more success in the future,” he said.
“To succeed in business, you need a number of qualities including flexibility, imagination and determination. Businesses tend to struggle when they stand still so being lean able to respond to change is also absolutely vital.”
As category sponsors it’s down to Smith Partnership to decide on the three shortlisted finalists as well as the award’s eventual winners and Russell explained what they will be looking for from the winners of this award.
“Being a great employer is about more than simply providing somewhere to work and paying for it accordingly. It is about providing inspirational environment, leadership and benefits that motivate employees to deliver a first-class experience to customers,” he said.
“We are hoping to uncover some of the best employers that Derby has to offer.”
The event will get underway with a Champagne reception upon arrival before guests take to their seats to enjoy a stunning three-course meal. Following this the prize giving will commence and guests will also be treated to entertainment and the chance to raise money for charity.
