The home of iconic British brands such as Rolls-Royce as well as famous manufacturers like Bombardier, many of the world’s most recognisable business have their roots firmly cemented in Derby.

This June will see the region’s brightest businesses come together to celebrate their success in a special event as the DerbyshireLive Business Awards returns.

Taking place on Wednesday 3 June, the event will welcome companies of all sizes and from a number of sectors to the Roundhouse at Derby College who are once again providing the backdrop for the awards.

With 16 categories up for grabs, walking away with one of the night’s coveted awards can provide a business with a significant boost. Overseeing proceedings this year will be the dynamic hosting duo of comedian Mark Dolan and TV presenter Lucy Nicholls.

Mark is best known for his hilarious stand-up routines as well as appearing on popular TV shows such a Channel 4’s Balls of Steel. Lucy is one of the country’s most sought after event hosts who made the transition into TV presenting from theatre. She can often be found fronting numerous programmes for the likes of SKY and Virgin.

The night’s biggest award is undoubtedly ‘Company of the Year’ which is presented to a business that has stood out from all others. Last year this prize went to waste management and recycling services business Ward and many businesses at this year’s event will be hoping to follow in their footsteps. It was a stellar year for the business as they also walked away with the ‘Employer of the Year’ prize.

It isn’t just big companies who are rewarded at the awards. Businesses who are just starting out also have their share of the limelight. The ‘Start-Up Business of the Year’ award is presented to a company who has been in operation for no more than three years. In this time, they’d have showcased their talents showing themselves to be one of the brightest businesses in the region. At the 2019 awards this category was awarded to White Peak Distillery who handcraft spirits in the Peak District.

The night will also provide people with the opportunity to raise much needed money for charity. Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People will be the recipients of this year’s fundraising efforts. The hospice provide support to children who are suffering from life-limiting or life-threatening illnesses.

During the awards a game of stand-up bingo and silent auction will take place with all funds going to the hospice.
