Thousands of students walk through the doors at Derby College each year with many going on to make a significant contribution to the regional business community.
The college are always keen to support local business in any way they can, as has been demonstrated once again with their involvement at the 2020 DerbyshireLive Business Awards.
Not only will their Roundhouse venue continue to act as the event’s venue, but the college has again come on board as Headline Sponsors of the awards.
The awards play a special role in the local business community celebrating businesses of all sizes and from across a variety of sectors. With 16 different categories on offer the awards reward a whole host of companies for their success, something that makes the awards unique in the region.
Peter Lawrence is Derby College’s Director of Business Development and explained why they made the decision to return to the awards this year.
“Derby College Group (DCG) is an integral part of the local and regional business community and we believe that it is important to recognise businesses who are making a positive impact on the economic health of the city, county, region and beyond,” he said.
“This is the fifth year that we have been Headline Sponsors of the DerbyshireLive Business Awards. We continue to be impressed with the calibre and entrepreneurial spirit that is so prevalent amongst the Derby and Derbyshire business community.”
Derby is home to businesses of all types and Peter was keen to point out why it is important to celebrate their success at events such as these.
“The DerbyshireLive Business Awards is a vital part of the business landscape. They celebrate success and encourage the whole business community to aim high. Awards such as these raise the profile of the city and county as a centre of excellence that will potentially attract inward investment from like-minded or supply chain businesses,” she said.
“Such events applaud those who are going above and beyond in terms of entrepreneurial innovation, growth, job creation and workforce development. Good practice highlighted in the awards coverage will hopefully encourage others to follow their lead – raising standards across different industry sectors.”
This year the awards will take place on Wednesday 3 June with guests welcomed by a Champagne reception upon arrival. Following this guests will take to their seats for an evening of fine dining, entertainment, charity fundraising and of course prize giving.
